Make Money Fast – How To Find A Profitable Niche Market

by Kenney and Kim on August 27, 2009

If you wanna’ make money fast on the Internet you have to learn how to find a profitable niche market.

This is of the utmost importance. If you can’t do this you will NOT make any money online. You also have to be able to find a niche that will spit out some cash fast and over the long haul.

I know you’re probably having that conversation, passion or profits. I say that you can have both, but in order to do so you have to follow these rules below.

How To Find A Profitable Niche Market That You’re Passionate About

The key to doing this is finding a niche market that has a pain and is actively looking for a solution online.

The second thing is that this niche market has to be able to deliver you enough traffic that you can actually make some real bucks from it, but can’t be too competitive that you won’t see results from your marketing for months. You want immediate. You want to be able to see some cash flow in days not weeks or months.

And thirdly I think that it should be an area that you are passionate about or at least interested in. But as far as making money goes, if you have to choose one, then you have to go with profits for now.

There is this saying, that you do what you have to, so that you can do what you want to. It was in a movie I saw a bit ago. But it’s true.

So, here is what I do.

I love to talk about fitness, health, sports and what not.

So, most of the niches that I go after are in that market. It makes creating content and sometimes the long hours I put in easier to do. Plus I am an “expert” in those fields so for me it makes it easier and funner, and it gave me a place to start. I know the people and have empathy for the problems that they are searching for online. And because most all of my blogs are related they help each other with links and ranking which I will talk about in a different post.

Is this a must… nope. You don’t have to know crap about what you are creating money making sites around actually.

Online… It All Comes Down To Keyword Research

This is where everybody misses it, but THIS is the KEY to making money at all online.

If you pick the wrong keyword research strategy you may never see results.

Start by going over to the Google Adwords External Keyword Tool and searching for keyword phrases that people with problems would look for.

…or you can use specific product names.

How To Find A Niche Market

If you want to tailor this to a specific niche that you are interested in, then ask yourself questions like:

“what do people in __________ want to get rid of?”
“what products are being bought in _________ market?”
“what do ________ market hate?”

Ex: In my market I might ask:

“What do track athletes want to get rid of?”
“What products are being bought in the track and field market?”
“What do track and field athletes hate?”

..And so on and so forth. Or you can just type in the keywords above and see what comes up. Thumb through them and try to find markets. Then pick a keyword out of the bunch and stick it into the Google Adwords Tool and search it. Be creative. Brainstorm.

What is selling like hot cakes on TV and online? Then ask yourself will this be evergreen? Meaning, is this going to be a problem that people will still want to solve for a few years to come.

People will always want to lose weight.
People will always want to get rid of fleas.
People will always want to know how to trade the forex market.
People will always need second chance banking.

You want to target people that are looking so solve a pain now and/or searchers that are on the verge of buying now.

Notice I said NOW. Not later. Now. These people are hungry for what they want now. These people are clickers and buyers. This is the type of traffic you want.

Then the Google keyword tool will give you a bunch of related keywords and keyword phrases that people are typing in the search engines. Change the matching option from “Broad” to “Phrase” match.

Did you see the type of words that I am typing in?

If someone types in these types of words they have a problem. They are looking for a solution. And they want it now.

Why is that important? Because they are looking and searching and clicking around your site for that solution.

And if they click on your Adsense Ad you will make money.

You want a market that is looking for “how to…” do something now.

Once you find or see a keyword that has at least 3,000 searches a month give or take for the main keyword then you can check to see if it has a lot of competition.

You check to see if it has a lot of competition by going over to Yahoo and typing in the keyword with quotations around it.

Then look for the results on the right hand side. You want less than 7,000 sites listed there or close.

Search with quotes. Find your niche.

This will allow you to build a blog that will be able to get at a bare minimum 100 unique visitors a day and will be able to rank #1 in a few weeks tops, but I will show you how to get traffic to the site another way later (for free) that will allow you to make that money fast while you are waiting for your number 1 ranking.

Okay so let’s review:

Find keywords that have at least 3,000 searches per month.

Take one a put it in Yahoo and search it with quotes around it. You want to find keywords that only have about 7,000 or less optimized sites targeting that keyword.

Now what you want to do is look for advertisers. Why?

You will be putting Adsense or YPN on your site so if no one is advertising for these keywords (or their parent keywords) then it will do you no good to build a blog around the keyword because there will be no advertisers.

Once you find that the niche has advertisers, has little competition, and has at least 3,000 or so searches a month in a market that is looking for a solution, you are ready to create your first “Bum Blog”.

I call this method of picking profitable niches my “Desperate Bum Blogging” Method.

You are targeting buyers who are desperately looking for a solution and using phrase that are non competitive for that type of market which has been coined as Bum Keywords from the ever so popular Bum Marketing Method by Travis Sago.

It’s because although I was first turned on to information marketing by Jeff Paul… Alexis Dawes of Desperate Buyers Only got me to really thinking and understanding the online market and the mind of the searchers. And Bum Marketing added a little side dish to the main course.

Anyway, if you do what I teaching you above you will start to make money fast from home.

Keyword research is where the money is. Most people see this as boring, but when you understand the power of this, then you will see the cha chingos. Your keywords are your “hot markets”.

Think about it like this, every time you do keyword research and find a keyword that fits these parameters, you can grab a top #1 ranking for a keyword that is going to bring you money, automatically, and passively day in and day out.

Holla at cha tomorrow.

Thanks for reading this how to find a profitable niche market post.

Niche marketing is a good way to promote products and earn money online because there are few competitors yet.~~`

I really liked this post. However, I have spent hours and hours trying to find a niche that has less than 7,000 pages with at least 3,000 monthly searches. I haven’t found one yet. It’s almost impossible I believe. Any one having any luck?? When I do find one with less than 7000 competing pages, then there is no or very little search volume!

This is actually outdated now… and I honestly should do an update to this post as competition has increased on the Internet and new business and websites are popping up all the time. At the time that I wrote this I could find a couple a day and that was all I needed.

This will help:

1. Don’t worry so much about the total amount of competition. Yes, it does matter, but not as much. You still want to have less overall competition.

2. Look at the first page of listings on Google/Yahoo/Bing to see if there is any “inner” pages of websites ranking well on authority sites (i.e.: squidoo, ezinearticles) You want to see at least 2.

3. Look at the PR of those ranking pages. You want the to see PR 0-2.

This is just a quick guide. You are trying to judge competition and your chances of ranking (QUICKLY) for that keyword.

If you see little competition, a few inner pages of article directory sites or other blogs or websites ranking, and you see a few PR0s, a couple PR1s, and a PR2 then you have found a keyword opportunity.

Also, look at your onpage optimization. Make sure that you are using “themeing” and you will get traffic even for big keywords. Grab these 2 reports (FREE) on the sidebar of this page: http://webcontentstudio.com

But also because you can really provide value you to your customers. You can really help them specifically with the problem that they are facing.
